Thé Mon Café, a small operation in Old Montreal, caters to local residents and office workers who want breakfast, a quick coffee, lunch, or a casual Saturday brunch. This cafe is hidden in plain sight on Notre Dame West. Since it is a few stairs up, you tend not to notice it walking by. A small sign on the street is the only obvious clue. The restaurant is just one room that is divided into kitchen, service, and seating areas. There are two entrances: one from the street and another from the interior atrium of the building, where an entrance to the Régie du Cinéma offices is also located. Some effort has been made on the interior, but in my opinion the decor, while acceptable, doesn't quite come together.
Even if the ambiance is nothing to write home about, Thé Mon Café does what is more important very well. The food is homemade and really good, and the people are very friendly, too.
What's for lunch?

| Roast beef sandwich and tabbouleh |
I had a zesty tabbouleh with my sandwich, and my dining partner had a homemade cauliflower soup with his. Accompanying coffee drinks were well made and good quality.
The servings are relatively modest, but everything is tasty and you get the feeling that the owners really care about the food. They are really friendly, too. Good service is a bonus.
If you work or live in the area, stop by and check out Thé Mon Café!
